Urhon ajot - 6 hours endurance challengeUrhon ajot is six
hours endurance challenge driven in several different race tracks in
Finland. The main event is in Ahvenisto circuit which is located in
city of Hämeenlinna.
Urhon ajot is strictly for aircooled Volkswagens. Engine has to be
VW-based 4-cylinder aircooled boxer, no water-cooled engines or in-line
engines apply.
Also you must use VW baseplate from aircooled car. Type1, 2, 3, 4,
thing, karmann ghias will do fine. You can't use only tube-frame and
glassfiber chassis, the baseplate must be original aircooled VW.
Otherwise cars can be almost anything. On year 2007, most of the cars
were beetles, but there were also one T3 Notchback, one T3 Razoredge
Karmann Ghia and two different glassfibre replicas (Colani GT and
swedish SilverHawk). On the track has also been at least one beach
buggy (difficult in corners because of the short wheelbase) and two
VW-Porsche 914's.
There are quite strict safety regulations for cars and drivers, which
are based on FIA Historic Roadsport -regulations. You can find more
information in Finnish on these pages of the teams ("Tiimit"), regulations ("Säännöt") and picture galleries ("Kuvagalleria").
